Why Stalin replaced the Kremlin’s eagles by red stars

To finish every week travel-inspired, I tell you every Friday about one of the photos of my blog’s header.

Today, after a few weeks travelling in Europe I am flying back to Moscow so I’ve selected a photo taken earlier this month on a lovely sunny day.

In Tsarist times, the Kremlin’s towers had golden eagles on the top but Stalin replaced them by red stars. As for Putin, he has not yet found necessary to change them.
