Travel theme: Jerusalem’s dazzling Dome of the Rock

This week, Ailsa‘s photo challenge theme is Dazzling.

I love photos of domes – whether they’re made of stone, or blue mozaic, or colourful tiles, they’re always so gorgeous on a beautiful sky background.

The most dazzling one I have ever seen is the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, a beautiful shrine that holds the Foundation Stone and therefore is a holy locations for Jews and Muslims alike.

“In 1993, the golden dome covering was refurbished following a donation of $8.2 million by King Hussein of Jordan who sold one of his houses in London to fund the 80 kilograms of gold required.” (Wikipedia)
