Propaganda at its best (4): Divine rights in pharaoh’s Egypt

Using a divine mandate to give legitimacy to a regime or a leader is a good old propaganda trick. The royal monarchy did it in France’s pre-Revolution monarchy and the Vaticane still does it to a certain extent.

Spotted today in Medinat Habu temple in Luxor, Egypt: carvings representing a scene where a god hands over a dagger to Ramses the Third, to tell him to mercilessly massacre foreign enemies.
